Behind the Scenes of the Most Expensive Rum Bottle in the World
By César & Manon, founders of Maison ODACE
We created the most expensive rum bottle in the world.
A sentence we will one day tell our children.
And yet, it all began in March 2024.
Following our appearance on French TV, Longueteau Distillery reached out to us with a bold ambition: to celebrate the 130th anniversary of their Maison by creating an extraordinary piece, capable of bringing together heritage, craftsmanship, modernity, and high jewelry.
A Meeting of Two Worlds
This collaboration held a very special meaning for us.
Before founding ODACE, we worked in the world of wines and spirits.
Taking part in the creation of an exceptional piece centered around a 1940 vintage rum, while bringing our jewelry expertise, felt like the natural meeting point of two passions.
A Bottle Inspired by Sugarcane
The exceptional bottle was sculpted in pâte de verre by artist Juliette Leperlier.
Its core is inspired by sugarcane, revealing the fibers found in its roots, as a tribute to the very origin of rum.
The exterior, on the other hand, evokes a diamond with its multiple facets.
Sugarcane, wrapped in a diamond: a powerful symbol for the distillery.
A High Jewelry Creation by ODACE
The neck of the bottle is adorned with a unique piece of jewelry imagined and created by our Maison ODACE.
For the design, we were given complete creative freedom.
We chose to extend the story of sugarcane by interpreting it through a distinctly modern jewelry language.
Baguette-cut diamonds naturally emerged to echo its geometric shapes.
A Technical Challenge: Matching the Diamonds
One of the greatest challenges was matching the diamonds: same dimensions, same color, same clarity.
To achieve this level of precision, more than 80 diamonds were custom-cut.
In total, 113 grams of gold and 34 carats of lab-grown diamonds make up this unique piece.
A One-of-a-Kind Piece Priced at €130,000
The bottle is now offered at €130,000, a nod to the 130th anniversary of Longueteau Distillery.
The official unveiling took place at La Maison Champs-Élysées, surrounded by journalists and partners.
A Vision of Contemporary Jewelry
Seeing this creation come to life is an immense source of pride.
It embodies our deep conviction: high jewelry can engage with other crafts and be part of bold collaborations.
This project opens new perspectives for us.
It makes us want to imagine new encounters between heritage, materials, and creativity.
Some collaborations change a trajectory.
Those that combine passion and excellence shape the future.
