Today, around half of our ODACE clients choose on their own. The other half come as a couple to decide.

In our boutique, we generally see three approaches.
Some men learn about their partner’s preferences beforehand, then come alone to choose the engagement ring, guided by our advice.
This is the bold choice: a complete surprise for the future fiancée.
Others talk about it together, then come as a couple to choose the engagement ring, to make sure they don’t get the design wrong.
This is the safe choice.
And then there is a third option: the proposal ring.
The partner chooses a first ring to create the surprise on the big day, then the newly engaged couple comes to the boutique to choose the “real” engagement ring.
A middle ground that combines surprise and certainty.
What Is the Best Option for Choosing an Engagement Ring?
For a long time, we were drawn to the idea of a complete surprise.
That unpredictable moment, full of boldness, where everything happens.
The engagement ring also carries that suspended moment of the proposal.
And with a “temporary” ring, one that won’t be worn afterward, some of that romance can sometimes be lost.
But with time and perspective, we’ve come to realize one thing above all: the real question is not whether you should choose alone or together.
