Why We Turned Down an Investment Offer on “Qui veut être mon associé"

Pourquoi nous avons refusé l’offre de Kelly Massol dans Qui veut être mon associé

Why We Turned Down Kelly Massol’s Offer on “Qui veut être mon associé”

By César & Manon, founders of Maison ODACE

This is a question we are often asked following our appearance on the show “Qui veut être mon associé” on M6: why did we turn down an investment offer?

Before answering, it’s important to go back to the context.

A High-Pressure Moment on “Qui veut être mon associé”

We presented Maison ODACE on the QVEMA stage with a clear ambition: to raise €190,000 in exchange for 10% equity.

In front of us were five experienced investors, dozens of cameras, and millions of viewers.
A moment that was both exciting and extremely intense.

We delivered our pitch, answered questions, and engaged with each investor.
But very quickly, the pressure built.

    The Decisive Moment

Marc Simoncini went first: he believed in the project, but did not want to invest in the jewelry sector.
Tony Parker followed: interested in the brand, but not comfortable enough with the market.
    Jean-Pierre Nadir also declined.

    Doubt began to settle in.

Then Kelly Massol made her move.
She offered €190,000 in exchange for 15% equity.

At that exact moment, everything accelerated.
On set, we only had a few seconds to make a decision.

Why We Turned Down the Offer

Kelly Massol is an entrepreneur we deeply respect.
    Her success is truly inspiring.

And yet, with Manon, one look was enough.

    We chose to decline.

A few months before filming, we had completed our first fundraising round with Business Angels, based on a specific valuation.

We had made a promise to ourselves: not to accept a lower valuation, out of respect for those early investors who had trusted us.

    Trust is something precious.
And we were determined to preserve it.

Beyond the numbers, there was also an element of intuition.
Difficult to explain rationally, but essential in the way we make decisions.

    A Decision We Stand By

With hindsight, we do not regret this choice.

Our appearance on “Qui veut être mon associé” was a defining experience that significantly accelerated the development of Maison ODACE.

But beyond the visibility, it allowed us to remain true to our vision and our commitments.

    Building for the Long Term

At ODACE, we are building a jewelry house for the long term.
    Every decision matters.

Today, we support our clients in meaningful life moments, especially in the creation of engagement rings, with the same level of care and attention.

For those who wish to discover our world, we also welcome you by appointment in our Paris boutique.

Some decisions are made in just a few seconds.
But they can define a trajectory.
